Sex! Sex! And More Sex!

OK now that I have your attention!  Some of you younger guys may have already heard this.  I know that older guys certainly have.  Once you pass 60 you shouldn't have sex.  The reason for this is the older you get the more medical problems we develop.  Heart conditions, respiratory problems, prostate and a number of other problems that affect the aging.  Mother Nature, you know why you call it this don’t you?  She can be a cruel mistress.

Conditions that would cause your Doctor to advise you not to participate in sexual activities are well founded.  You should heed such advice. However for guys like me, who are over 60, still acting like they are in their twenties, may act like they are in their teens.  Sex may not be totally out of the question.

So let me tell you what I was working on.  Even without any serious medical problems, quality sex for older individuals can sometimes be trying.  So the other day I told my wife, of 37 years, that I was going to see the Doctor about a pharmaceutical alternative. Yes!! Viagra or Cialis.  Which got me, a roll of her eyes,  a pucker on her lips, and oh joy comment.  I had a physical. The Doctor gave me a couple of free sample pacts. Dam aint drugs great???.  For most men these two pharmaceutical compounds work fairly well to improve the quality of one's performance.  Without trying to be crude simply put, the will stiffen the member.  With this thought in mind, I return to the Doctor. Who wrote me a prescription for one of these drugs?  I presented the prescription to the pharmacist, who advised me of the cost per pill.  The shock instantly took the stiffness from the member.  The cost softened up my wallet quite a bit.  Most insurance companies are not covering the cost.  So the costs are all out of pocket.  While the old fellows who were told they couldn't have sex, now have the company of the rest of us who could, but can’t afford it.

Isn't it a crime to pay for sex????

Maybe Washington needs to take a lesson from the people?

Jim Toedtma, Editor of the AARP Bulletin, has a really good article for December.  He talks about the tremendous amount of money the American people have lost since the housing bubble of 2007.  12.9 trillion In home values have been lost.  He goes on to state that 6.7 trillion, about half of the total losses, exceeds the size of the entire Chinese economy or the size of Germany and France’s economy combined.

For many families that vanishing wealth would have been retirement savings, college tuition accounts or a safety net against job losses-or all three.

So how have we Americans responded?  His article states that we're saving more now and spending less.  In the current recovery, sluggish as it is, people have decided to do two things, save more and pay down old debt

What is the lesson here?

While Congress and the rest of Washington seem to be paralyzed, the American people move forward with a positive personal plan to improve their situation.  It's time that Washington took a page from the American people.  Look at the situation this country is in. Look at what this country needs to do?  Then make the necessary adjustments!!

If the people recognized that they need to toss their credit cards and open up savings accounts and pay down old debts, our leaders should do the same.  Jim's final statement in this article is simple.  It's a three step recipe - common sense, compromise and simple math.

It's long past time.  Our government needs to stop the spending, balance the budget, and close the tax loopholes.  Pay attention to the promises that they have made to the American people.  Now is not the time for our leaders to bicker like children.  We cannot wait another 12 months to get started.

When two people in a household realize that compromise is the only solution, then they can acquire as much as both of them want.  How can our government leaders not understand this principle?

What happened to me? When did I go all techno?

I remember not to long ago my son told me, that my communication skills were somewhere close to charcoal drawings on a cave wall.  My young granddaughter bought me a little bit closer to the 21st century, by telling me that it was like Crayola crayons on the Dining Room wall.

It’s true I avoided a computer most of my life.  When I was a kid a computer was something that took up an entire floor of the subbasement of the Pentagon.  They were big and most of us knew nothing about them.  A calculator was the size of some of today’s notebooks. (If you got caught using a calculator in school you probably got a failing grade for that day’s work.)

It’s true I shunned the computer most of my life.  I avoided jobs where I would have had to work with them.  But face it; I’m not big on telephones or writing letters either.  I had to have someone set up my TV and VCR.  So when did I go all techno?  I retired back in the beginning of 2011.  I now carry a cell phone, I own two computers and I am on them constantly.  My dear wife refers to herself as a computer widow.

I get most of my news; stock reports and entertainment offer the computer.  I have a spot on almost every social site there is.  I don’t think this is an addiction, but it’s coming close.

The things that bothered me most about the computer in the past, was that it intimidated me.  It was totally impersonal for me; I hated sending and receiving messages.  Now I send them by the ton.

Don’t get me wrong, I still like drawing on cave walls!
