VA bans Christmas cards to the troops

It’s way beyond high time, that civil minded Americans (people of all nations) revisit the idea of being politically correct.  My bet is that most people, who believe that always being politically correct, don’t understand how much of their freedom they surrender in doing so?  I believe that there is absolutely nothing wrong with wishing someone a merry Christmas even if you know the person receiving your good tidings does not wish to, (this is simply an expression of goodwill and blessings among humans).  As it would not be wrong for someone of another religious persuasion, to wish someone a happy Hanukkah, happy Ramadan or any religious observances that are celebrated during this season.  Expressing one’s beliefs in a creator or savior is one of the things that separate us from lesser inhabitants of our world.
Political correctness is a cancer upon humanity that strikes on shallow minded, thin skinned humans, but affects the rest of humanity, by killing a human spirit.
So!!!  Political correctness be damned;   God bless you, God bless America, Merry Christmas and any other holiday that you observe this season, that brings you peace, joy and happiness.  May 2014 be the year that we rebel against the stupidity of always being politically correct.
Always being politically correct is someone’s attempt to control the way you think, act and speak and to infringe upon your basic human rights.

The Forgotten Man.

THE TRUTH REPRESENTED IN A PAINTING.
It took guts to paint this picture; he'll probably pay a price!
Watch this short video! AND THEN click to see his second piece of art...WOW!

MARLIN FIREARMS CLOSING ITS DOORS

Even if you do not own a gun you need to know this. I checked this out on
"Truth or Fiction" who verified it. I trust them more than Snopes. Marlin
Firearms is already closing its doors! They are doing it to us, America!
This needs to be spread to all gun owners and sportsmen/women. We cannot
rely on the media to inform us of these types of matters.

Something you may not know that Is happening ... Who is buying the companies
manufacturing guns??? For the last several years a company called The
Freedom Group has been buying up gun and ammunition manufacturers.

Some of the companies are Bushmaster, Marlin, Remington, DPMS, Dakota Ar
and
H&R. Some people worry that this Freedom Group is going to control most of
the firearms
companies in the United States . If you control the manufacturers you can
decide to stop selling to civilians.

What a perfect way to control guns. Now if you do some digging you will see
that The Freedom Group is owned by a company called Cerberus Capital
Management . Guess who controls Cerberus??? GEORGE SOROS , Obama's chief
financier!! He wants to restrict or ban all civilian guns.

Please pass this on to all your freedom loving friends. This needs to come
out. Why have we not heard about this in the "mainstream" media? I would
think this would be BIG news. (Soros also owns Progressive Insurance). If
you don't know who George Soros is, you need to do some research. This
One-World Government atheist backed Obama with millions of dollars and Obama
is a puppet on a string controlled by Soros.

Send this to every gun owner you know!

For your enjoyment

TO SHARE WITH OLD FOLKS YOU MAY KNOW .......

A lady goes to the bar on a cruise ship
And orders a Scotch with two drops of water. As the bartender gives
her the drink she says 'I'm on this cruise to celebrate my 80th
birthday and it's today.'
The bartender says 'Well, since it's your birthday, I'll buy you a drink.
In fact, this one is on me.'
As the woman finishes her drink
The woman to her right says
'I would like to buy you a drink, too.'
The old woman says
'Thank you.
Bartender, I want a Scotch with two drops of water.'
'Coming up' says the bartender
As she finishes that drink,
The man to her left says
'I would like to buy you one, too.'
The old woman says
'Thank you.
Bartender, I want another Scotch with two drops of water.'
'Coming right up' the bartender says.
As he gives her the drink,he says
'Ma'am, I'm dying of curiosity.
Why the Scotch with only two drops of water?'
The old woman replies
'Sonny, when you're my age,
You've learned how to hold your liquor...
Holding your water, however, is a whole other issue.'

What's Going On? You Decide!

You decide... Hmmmmmmmm.
But remember this is same President who by executive order has place himself in control of public communication system and the ability to declare martial law without the permission of Congress. The same President, who has armed a civilian army (homeland security) with military grade weapons, and led by people who belong to the Muslim brotherhood, if anyone has forgotten early in the last century history tells us about another ruthless leader.
On October 12, 2013, ABC’s Dianne Sawyer brought us a video of a 9th, yes 9th, General fired from the military this week. It’s even reaching some of the more liberal stations and begging them to ask the question, “What is going on?” It seems President Obama is preparing what he calls “my military” for his version of the final solution. With all the documentation we have, it looks as though he is purging the military for the next step.
We have now seen this official President Obama temper-tantrum in action this week. But is it a temper-tantrum or is there a method to his madness?
We have been warned by a Pentagon Official to expect radical changes. You heard of our dire warnings of Chinese Economists planning to foreclose and forming the TPP Treaty that could set a global economy in motion. We have the very real possibility of 16 U.S. States being shutdown and handed over due to debt in this mess. We even have a CIA whistle blower warning us that President Obama wants to radically take over power. People are crying out, where is our military in this mess?
Well, there seems to be some very credible evidence that since last year and through this year that there has been a “litmus test” given to American Military Officers. The Main point of that test, “Would you fire on an American Citizen?” If you say no, then as Donald Trump would say, “Your fired!” Since the beginning of the year these retired officer’s have came forward with ““President Obama is preparing for war against the U.S.”. We even know Dr. Garrow and others confirmed this litmus test. Then we have heard President Obama himself talk about “My Military”.
And this isn’t all. This strange chain of firings from the Military is so bizarre and so unheard of that even Dianne Sawyer of ABC news reached out to cover it when the 9th, yes 9th, Military Commanding Officer was relieved of duty in less than a year. This doesn’t include the long list last year, this is just the nine individuals this year alone.
http://freepatriot.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/Gen-Ham.jpgGeneral Carter Hamm, United States Army-Served as head of the United States African Command. Was in charge of the US African command during the fateful night of September 11, 2012 when the lives of four American citizens was taken in the Embassy in Benghazi. Hamm was extremely critical of our Commander and Chief and stated he lied about not having reinforcements in the area on that night. Hamm “resigned and retired” on April of 2013.
Rear Admiral Charles Gaouette/United States Navy-Commander of Carrier Strike Group Three. His most recent activity served as Deputy Commander of the US Naval Forces, US Central Command. He was in charge of Air Craft Carriers in the Mediterranean Sea the night of September 11, 2012. He testified before the hearing committee and said that there may not have been time to get the flight crews there but left the door open on if told when the events took place if that he could have had the aircraft launched upon cross-examination by Rep. Tray Gowdey. Recently fired from the Administrative post and relieved of Duty by the Obama Administration for “utterance of a racial slur”.
http://freepatriot.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/ralphbaker.jpegMajor General Ralph Baker, United States Army- Major General Baker served as the Commander of the Joint Task Force-Horn at Camp Lamar, Djibouti, Africa. Was also involved in some aspect with the incident September 11, 2012, being under the African Command. Had said he believed attack helicopters could have made it in time. Relieved of command and fired for groping a civilian (no assault charges or sexual misconduct charges filed with JAG)
Brigadier General Bryan Roberts, United States Army-General Roberts took command of Fort Jackson in 2011. Was considered a rising star in his field. He served in Iraq during his service as the Commanding Officer of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, and was the Deputy Commanding General of the United States Army Recruiting Command, Fort Knox, KY. Relieved of Duty and Fired for Adultery. While this is still on the books in the United States Code of Military Justice, it has rarely been used since President Bill Clinton’s indiscretions.
http://freepatriot.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/MG_Gregg_Sturdevant.jpgMajor General Gregg A. Sturdevant, United States Marine Corps-Director of Strategic Planning and Policy of for the United States Pacific Command and Commander of the aviation wing at Camp Bastion, Afghanistan. Highly decorated soldier with two Naval and Marine Commendations and two Naval and Marine Good Conduct medals. He also has an Air Medal with a gold star. He served honorably and distinctively. He had asked about supplies to his command. He was one of two commanding officers suddenly relieved of command and fired from the military for failure of proper force protection.
http://freepatriot.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/MG_Charles_Gurganus1.jpgMajor General Charles M.M. Gurganus, United States Marine Corps- Regional Commander in the Southwest and I Marine Expeditionary Force (a forward or frontal division) in Afghanistan. Also Highly decorated with a Defense Superior Service Medal, two Legion of Merritt w/Valor, and three Meritorious Service Commendations. Major General C.M.M.Gurganus had questioned the use of Afghanistan patrols along side American patrols after two officers were executed at their desk and a platoon was lead into an ambush on the front lines. Was the other commander relieved of duty for failure of proper force protection.
http://freepatriot.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/220px-LTG_David_Huntoon.jpgLieutenant General David Holmes Huntoon Jr, United States Army-Served as the 58th Superintendent of the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY. He had graduated from the same academy in 1973 and had served in Senior Planning and Education Services through the majority of his career. He was “censored” for“an investigation” into an “improper relationship” according to The Department of Defense. Nothing was released to the nature of the improper relationship. Nothing was even mentioned if an actual investigation even took place.
http://freepatriot.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/thumb_VADM-Tim-Giardina.jpgVice Admiral Tim Giardina, United States Navy-Deputy Commander of the United States Strategic Command. Commander of the Submarine Group Trident, Submarine Group 9 and Submarine Group 10, where every single one of the 18 Nuclear Submarines with Nuclear Trident Missiles of those three groups were in his command. This commander earned six Legions of Merit, Two Meritorious Service Medals, two Joint Service Commendation Medals, and several other medals, ribbons and decorations in his illustrious career. He was removed from service and fired from the military for the charge of using counterfeit poker chips (not making that up).
http://freepatriot.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/GetFile_xlarge.jpegLast on the list, Major General Michael Carry, United States Air Force-Commander 20th Air Force in charge of 9,600 people and 450 Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBM) at three operational wings and served in both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. He was Fired October 11, 2013, for “Personal Misbehavior” is what was told to ABC News. He and Giardina were both the two top Commanders over the United States Nuclear Arsenal before their dismissal within 48 hours of each other.
As ABC News reports, this is an extremely alarming rate and one of the biggest and fastest purges of military personnel ever recorded. It apparently is such a shock at the rate even for a long time veteran of reporting the news as Dianne Sawyer, because at one point she gets heated saying two Commanders of the Nuclear Command.
You don’t put people who are not very intelligent and without a squeaky clean record over that area of the Military. It is enough to make the hardest and staunchest of supporters as the ABC news crew to pause and ask themselves, “what step is he planning?”.
This is beyond politics!

Don’t piss off Grandma!! you have to highlight to read

Here is another rant, that some will label as false. All of us are affected; we are not isolated from the impact of our political leader's buffoonery.  If there was ever in need for Americans to protect themselves from their own government now’s It's time! we should support a 28th amendment, Term limits for politicians and consequences for moral and ethical wrongdoing.
Rough language but she really makes her point clear!

I don't think pissed really covers it!!!!!!!!!!!

Alan Simpson, Senator from Wyoming, Co-Chair of Obama's deficit commission, calls senior citizens the Greediest Generation as he compared "Social Security" to a Milk Cow with 310 million teats.

Here's a response in a letter from PATTY MYERS in Montana

... I think she is a little ticked off! She also tells it like it is!

"Hey Alan, let's get a few things straight.

1. As a career politician, you have been on the public dole for FIFTY YEARS.

2. I have been paying Social Security taxes for 48 YEARS (since I was 15 years old. I am now 63).

3 My Social Security payments, and those of millions of other Americans, were safely tucked away in an interest bearing account for decades until you political pukes decided to raid the account and give OUR money to a bunch of zero ambition losers in return for votes, thus bankrupting the system and turning Social Security into a Ponzi scheme that would have made Bernie Madoff proud..

4. Recently, just like Lucy & Charlie Brown, you and your ilk pulled the proverbial football away from millions of American seniors nearing retirement and moved the goalposts for full retirement from age 65 to age 67. NOW, you and your shill commission is proposing to move the goalposts YET AGAIN.

5. I, and millions of other Americans, have been paying into Medicare from Day One, and now you morons propose to change the rules of the game. Why? Because you idiots mismanaged other parts of the economy to such an extent that you need to steal money from Medicare to pay the bills.

6. I, and millions of other Americans, have been paying income taxes our entire lives, and now you propose to increase our taxes yet again. Why? Because you incompetent bastards spent our money so profligately that you just kept on spending even after you ran out of money.

Now, you come to the American taxpayers and say you need more to pay off YOUR debt.

To add insult to injury, you label us "greedy" for calling "bull****" on your incompetence.

Well, Captain Bull****, I have a few questions for YOU.

1. How much money have you earned from the American taxpayers during your pathetic 50-year political career?

2. At what age did you retire from your pathetic political career, and how much are you receiving in annual retirement benefits from the American taxpayers?

3. How much do you pay for YOUR government provided health insurance?

4. What cuts in YOUR retirement and healthcare benefits are you proposing in your disgusting deficit reduction proposal, or, as usual, have you exempted yourself and your political cronies?

It is you, Captain Bull****, and your political co-conspirators called Congress who are the "greedy" ones. It is you and your fellow nutcases who have bankrupted America and stolen the American dream from millions of loyal, patriotic taxpayers. And for what? Votes. That's right, sir. You and yours have bankrupted America for the sole purpose of advancing your pathetic political careers. You know it, we know it, and you know that we know it.

And you can take that to the bank, you miserable son of a bitch.

Sex! Sex! And More Sex!

OK now that I have your attention!  Some of you younger guys may have already heard this.  I know that older guys certainly have.  Once you pass 60 you shouldn't have sex.  The reason for this is the older you get the more medical problems we develop.  Heart conditions, respiratory problems, prostate and a number of other problems that affect the aging.  Mother Nature, you know why you call it this don’t you?  She can be a cruel mistress.

Conditions that would cause your Doctor to advise you not to participate in sexual activities are well founded.  You should heed such advice. However for guys like me, who are over 60, still acting like they are in their twenties, may act like they are in their teens.  Sex may not be totally out of the question.

So let me tell you what I was working on.  Even without any serious medical problems, quality sex for older individuals can sometimes be trying.  So the other day I told my wife, of 37 years, that I was going to see the Doctor about a pharmaceutical alternative. Yes!! Viagra or Cialis.  Which got me, a roll of her eyes,  a pucker on her lips, and oh joy comment.  I had a physical. The Doctor gave me a couple of free sample pacts. Dam aint drugs great???.  For most men these two pharmaceutical compounds work fairly well to improve the quality of one's performance.  Without trying to be crude simply put, the will stiffen the member.  With this thought in mind, I return to the Doctor. Who wrote me a prescription for one of these drugs?  I presented the prescription to the pharmacist, who advised me of the cost per pill.  The shock instantly took the stiffness from the member.  The cost softened up my wallet quite a bit.  Most insurance companies are not covering the cost.  So the costs are all out of pocket.  While the old fellows who were told they couldn't have sex, now have the company of the rest of us who could, but can’t afford it.

Isn't it a crime to pay for sex????

Maybe Washington needs to take a lesson from the people?

Jim Toedtma, Editor of the AARP Bulletin, has a really good article for December.  He talks about the tremendous amount of money the American people have lost since the housing bubble of 2007.  12.9 trillion In home values have been lost.  He goes on to state that 6.7 trillion, about half of the total losses, exceeds the size of the entire Chinese economy or the size of Germany and France’s economy combined.

For many families that vanishing wealth would have been retirement savings, college tuition accounts or a safety net against job losses-or all three.

So how have we Americans responded?  His article states that we're saving more now and spending less.  In the current recovery, sluggish as it is, people have decided to do two things, save more and pay down old debt

What is the lesson here?

While Congress and the rest of Washington seem to be paralyzed, the American people move forward with a positive personal plan to improve their situation.  It's time that Washington took a page from the American people.  Look at the situation this country is in. Look at what this country needs to do?  Then make the necessary adjustments!!

If the people recognized that they need to toss their credit cards and open up savings accounts and pay down old debts, our leaders should do the same.  Jim's final statement in this article is simple.  It's a three step recipe - common sense, compromise and simple math.

It's long past time.  Our government needs to stop the spending, balance the budget, and close the tax loopholes.  Pay attention to the promises that they have made to the American people.  Now is not the time for our leaders to bicker like children.  We cannot wait another 12 months to get started.

When two people in a household realize that compromise is the only solution, then they can acquire as much as both of them want.  How can our government leaders not understand this principle?

What happened to me? When did I go all techno?

I remember not to long ago my son told me, that my communication skills were somewhere close to charcoal drawings on a cave wall.  My young granddaughter bought me a little bit closer to the 21st century, by telling me that it was like Crayola crayons on the Dining Room wall.

It’s true I avoided a computer most of my life.  When I was a kid a computer was something that took up an entire floor of the subbasement of the Pentagon.  They were big and most of us knew nothing about them.  A calculator was the size of some of today’s notebooks. (If you got caught using a calculator in school you probably got a failing grade for that day’s work.)

It’s true I shunned the computer most of my life.  I avoided jobs where I would have had to work with them.  But face it; I’m not big on telephones or writing letters either.  I had to have someone set up my TV and VCR.  So when did I go all techno?  I retired back in the beginning of 2011.  I now carry a cell phone, I own two computers and I am on them constantly.  My dear wife refers to herself as a computer widow.

I get most of my news; stock reports and entertainment offer the computer.  I have a spot on almost every social site there is.  I don’t think this is an addiction, but it’s coming close.

The things that bothered me most about the computer in the past, was that it intimidated me.  It was totally impersonal for me; I hated sending and receiving messages.  Now I send them by the ton.

Don’t get me wrong, I still like drawing on cave walls!

Bah humbug I don’t do Christmas

Actually I don’t do any holiday, not that I’m a Scourge.  I’m not the Grinch who stole Christmas either.

The holidays of my youth, seen through the joy, filled eyes of someone with a little less experience of how things work in this world. That joy has long since faded.  Life in those early years was full of wonder and excitement.  A sense of something very special.  Oh aye!  It was a day off from school, playing in the snow, and a couple of gifts, a big dinner with the family and a trip to church to hear about the amazing child born over 2000 years ago.  The whole experience had a very special feel to it.  The warmth of friends and family gathered together in celebration.  But it was more than that. It had a sense of belonging to something bigger.

I have grown older, wiser (but maybe a bit cynical) the friends and family have grown up and moved away.  Life has taken on different meanings and responsibilities.  Santa Claus doesn’t come down the chimney, but the credit card bill does come in the mail.  Holidays of all kinds are expensive.  I believe that we’ve lost the ability to just enjoy life without the extra expenses of supporting the holiday scenario.

Let’s just take a look at what Christmas would cost a family of four.  Mom and Dad and two children.  So Mom and Dad both work, both get the day before and Christmas Day off.  They both get paid holiday pay.  These are your average everyday hard working people so we’re going to assume they get holiday pay for the two days somewhere around $525.

Holiday dinner for four people with all the fixings and trimmings runs about $125.  A video game for junior about $60.00.  So being fair, they also have to spend the same amount of money on the other child $60.00. Mom buys something for Dad. Dad buys something for Mom about $125 each (250.00).  Of course we can’t forget Grandma and Grandpa.  Four more gifts at $60.00 each ($240.00).  This is just the immediate family; don’t forget brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles and cousins ($300.00).  You also had Christmas cards, stamps and those gifts that you bought for the office ($125.00).  But you’re not done yet?  Neighbors, friends and the post person.  The list goes on, but I don’t think there’s a reason to go on, you get the picture.  Holidays are expensive.  Dinner gifts and miscellaneous items $1010 minus you’re holiday pay $525 leaves $585 not covered under the holiday pay.

Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t think we should give up our holidays.  I just can’t remember where it went from a celebration of something very special, to a commercial endeavor.

Black Friday is meant to put commerce in black ink for that period.  It’s meant to put retailers over the top for the year.  When in fact Black Friday will put most consumers into the red ink for much longer.

I don’t know what’s wrong with this picture?

                                     I’m sorry I just don’t do holidays///enjoy your holiday

Best wishes for the New Year

You’re born, you live, and you die.

This is a simple statement of fact. We humans spend about 27,000 days on average in this life

We have no control over our birth.  We also cannot stop death. Some or all of the things we can do in the middle may, or will affect the middle and the last part of our lives.  But how we live our lives during those 27,000 days is pretty much up to us.

Now, I guess I’ve always believed that we have free will to live our lives as we wish.  I also believe that there may be some kind of predetermined destiny, a path, a direction, on which our life takes off that will guide us to our final days.  Now, I’m not talking about a straight line from beginning to end, from birth to death.  Not any kind of Life Energy, or a guiding hand that will take us to the first crossroads, or to any crossroads in life.  I’m only talking about the decisions we make, that will continue to lead us too many more crossroads in life.

In our first five years (1825 days) most decisions are made by our Elders, parents and those around us who are wiser and have more experience. All we know is that we’re hungry, cranky or happy.  Not much beyond that. (Oh yes, when we are messy too).  After those early years, life becomes an adventure.

Good decisions can extend our lives, make us happy, educate us and make life enjoyable: to live.

Not so good decisions will take us down different roads.

Example; A five year old riding a tricycle down the sidewalk, you have two simple decisions that could    affect the rest of your life.

1.       You go down the driveway and onto the road into oncoming traffic.  This could affect your ability to make it to the next crossroad of life or your next decision.

2.       Or you can sample, listen, to what you’ve been told about staying out of the street.  Living to enjoy yet another day.  Enjoying the benefits of making good decisions also gaining life experiences.

3.       A 13 year old, (4745 days old) who is now entering the age where they know it all!   After years of good advice, they decide to start smoking, drinking or doing drugs! All things that can certainly alter your course to the next crossroads.

All crossroads, like all decisions, lead somewhere.  It takes time and experience to learn how to make good decisions, also like learning to read a road map, learning to read life’s crossroads takes time and experience.

So enjoy life, learn how to make good decisions, except the knowledge that you obtain from the bad decisions.

Try to always remember; decisions are like money, the more you make, the more you’ll enjoy life.

I can't believe the response

Reading this weekend, I found this little article and showed it ot my wife.

It reads= shortly before our 25th wedding anniversary, my husband send me 25 long standed yellow roses at my office. A few days later I dried the petals, and in anticipation of the romantic evening, spread  then on our bed. As I hoped, I got a reaction from my husband.  When he saw me he shouted " are those potato chips? "

Now my wife said " that's just like a man" I just don't understand?  I like potato chips, just not in my bed.

You never get a second chance to make a good first impression.
As true as that statement is, sometimes you’re able to make a good second impression.  My point being I seen an interview with Don King, on the bill O’Reilly show the other night.  Don King.  A man who I’ve always thought a little bit odd, flamboyant and outspoken.  Topic of conversation was about to Wall Street protesters.  Mr. King said that he was going down the Wall Street to speak with protesters.  O’Reilly made a statement that had the phrase African American in it.  Nothing negative, nothing inappropriate.  But I loved Don King’s response, and that was simply am not African American I’m just an American.  This is something that I’ve written about before.  This is something that I feel strongly about.  I’d love to see more people who have a public platform take a similar position.  We need to rebuild our pride in being Americans first, and then taking pride in our family’s background.  Good showing Mr. King!!!

Someone else in the news, who has been making a good second impression.  Has been President Clinton.  He seems to be on point out what’s going on in our economy.

Another person in the news was made a good second impression.  Is Newt Gingrich.  And started to like some always got to say in the sounds a bit more reasonable these days.  It’ll be interesting to see if he starts to rise in the polls.

Then, there’s Herman Cain.  When my book made a good first impression and continues to make an even stronger second impression.  But these are my opinions for this week.

Showdown at McDonald’s

At least it was a good conversation anyway.
Yesterday I stopped off at the local McDonald’s for a cup of coffee. I grabbed a copy of the newspaper, went and sat down.  I had no intentions, other than to enjoy my coffee and read the paper.  But that’s not what was going to happen.  After just a few moments, a couple of young men took the table next to me.  They started a conversation between themselves.  I didn’t mean to ease drop on their conversation but it was hard not to hear what they were saying.  After a few moments of not agreeing with their conversation.  I must have snickered louder than I had meant to.  Because one of them turned to me and said, “So, I guess you don’t agree with me?”  And we’re off, because I said, “No, not at all.”

Now before I can get into what we’re talking about, I’ll need to tell you what I found out about these two gentlemen.

Both of them are working for a radio station in a small town in Northwest Nebraska.  They are Radio Engineers and they were on their way to Denver for training. One was a black gentleman in his late twenties - early thirties, tech school trained, with some college.  The second one was a white gentleman in his early twenties, recently out of tech school, working a two year apprenticeship at the station.

The only reason I point this out is so you understand that the two of them were educated and in the business that would allow them access to the information, so they knew what was going on.

Now onto the conversation that, I overheard.  The younger guy started a conversation by saying something about, the occupied Wall Street demonstrations.  He pretty much agreed with what is going on, on Wall Street today.  Of course I don’t believe the same way.  The two of them discussed several things about the protesters or at least what they thought the protesters were there for.  The second guy made reference to all of the legal actions that Wall Street has taken the last couple years.  He felt that was why our economy is in such bad shape.  He then brought up how people like Warren Buffett, billionaires and millionaires pay fewer taxes than the rest of us.

I guess by this time their conversation had gotten to me.  I must’ve snickered or they caught me rolling  my eyes, because the black gentleman, looked at me and said I guess you don’t agree.  I then said that I didn’t totally disagree but I couldn’t actually agree with what they were saying.  So the younger of the two asked me what I disagreed about.

I said first of all the protesters are in the wrong city.  Although Wall Street wasn’t the scene of the crime they certainly didn’t help when it came to our recent economic downturn.  But the real culprits are in Washington, DC.  They ask me how I figured that.  I then said, if Washington and the Federal Reserve actually set regulations to oversee the mortgage industry, such as Freddie and Fannie, banks wouldn’t have written so many bad loans.  Banks are in the business to make money for banks.  Then the other guy brought up Warren Buffett’s statement, about how he paid fewer taxes then his secretary.  Mr. Buffett, because of his money, is in a position to take advantage of all tax laws and loopholes, which his secretary may not be able to take advantage of.  I pointed out that Mr. Buffett most likely takes quite a bit of his income in ways that favor his tax situation.  I also pointed out that anyone associated with Warren Buffett and takes advantage of Mr. Buffett’s knowledge and experience. Makes money and probably pays fewer taxes.

The younger guy that brought up the inadequacy, of who has all the money, and how little he made himself.  I asked what he meant.  He said the big fat cat bankers and people on Wall Street make millions of dollars a year and that he couldn’t make enough money to pay his rent.  So I asked how much money he thought a millionaire might have made in their first job.  He looked at me like I was crazy.  Now I’m no millionaire, I asked them what he thought I’d made and my first job?  He looked at me, and said with all due respect, I guess a couple bucks an hour.  I then told that my first job out I school paid 50¢ an hour and at that time my father made less than two bucks an hour.  You could see on his face that he didn’t believe it.  But by that time two or three of the other local older guys had joined me at the table.  Some of them are as much as 10 years older than me and said that they had started work for less pay than me.

Again we went back to millionaires and billionaires and how Warren Buffett and a few others have said that they are willing to pay more in taxes to help our economy out. I appointed out that I am sure that they actually do not want to pay higher taxes, but that they themselves are in the position financially, that paying higher taxes would put a financial strain on them.  I personally believe that people now have been so blessed by our capitalistic system that people who used their own natural abilities and the education they have acquired, are willing to take the lead to help build a strong economy.

By this time they finish their breakfast and were ready to hit the road.  The older of the two said he hadn’t really changed his mind but he did have a new way to look at how he felt about what was going on.  The younger guy I felt was more angry than concerned about what was going on but it didn’t seem near as hostile when they departed.  Actually he offered to shake hand saying it was a shame they didn’t have more time to continue the discussion.

After they left my coffee mates, tried to say how misinformed these two guys were.  I reminded them how misinformed our views were and different back in the days of our youth.

BEIJING – For all the grief the Obama administration is getting from China for filing a complaint with the World Trade Organization about Chinese tariffs on American chicken exports, perhaps the president should be suing China for royalties instead.
We’ve seen Obama peddle chicken for Kentucky Fried Chicken in Hong Kong, so it was just a matter of time before he broke loose and got his own franchise here in the mainland.
Obama Fried Chicken, or at least what we assume OFC stands for, was found earlier this week in Beijing and comes with the slogan written underneath in Chinese: “We’re so cool, aren’t we?”
Indeed..

Americans who are we really

I know that most of us have seen this video by now. And it is amazing! These people deserve all the accolades and praise that is being heaped upon them. Their actions were incredibly heroic and extremely dangerous. I’m sure that if you spoke with any one of them right after this event, they would have said they did not think about the danger they put themselves in at the time. Just strangers coming forward to help yet another stranger in distress. (Good Samaritans all of them.)
But I didn’t choose this video for the reason of pointing out their great courage and sacrifice. However, I would like you to take a look at the overall makeup of this group of people. Old, young, male, female, white black and every color in between. Construction worker, businessman, people just walking down a street, and without notice came to someone’s aid.
But as I said, I didn’t pick this video or this topic of heroism. I’ll use it to just point out the diversity of this particular group. It helps make my point,
Americans who are we really? We all know that in the beginning of the United States, when it was just the Colony’s, it was a group of people who came to a new land looking for a better life. Scientists have been able to trace the American Indian, up through Canada, across Alaska and the Bering Straits, to Asia and Eastern Europe.
Americans who are we really? If you ask someone on the street today who they are? You will get answers like (I don’t know /I’m African American/I’m a Mexican American/Italian, Irish, or any number of other ethnic groups, and it’s true our ancestors all came from somewhere else. I believe that having pride in one’s heritage is great. We need to keep in mind that our forefathers came here as foreigners, aliens in a new country . They worked hard, fought hard, and soon became the first Americans. Our forefathers were both proud of being where they were from and where they are now from.
Americans who are we really? We are a group of people whose heritage stretches beyond our shores. We are people who work together for common good, live together in harmony, raise our family’s educator young, and look forward to a better tomorrow.
Americans who we really? Just take another look at this video. Look at how a group of people who may have had nothing in common before this accident, came together for a common good.
Americans who are we really? We are the best of all who came before us. Although our forefathers struggled, fought and suffered. They gave us the distinct privilege to call ourselves Americans.
Americans who are we really? We are Americans of different and disdain ethnic origins, We are American first and then African/ Hispanic /Irish /Italian or any other ethnic background that you would like to claim. We’re also Jewish/ Catholic/ Protestant/ Muslim /Hindu/ Buddhist/Atheist. We are Republican/Democrat/Independent or not political at all. We are a country as colorful as the rainbow and as different as night is to day.
Americans who are we really? We’re a group of people working, playing and living in harmony. We can be walking down a busy street and when the need arises, we can take action to help one another without the worry that our forefathers had and others in other countries have to worry about today.
Americans who are we really? We are united people who enjoy the freedoms that is rarely seen in other parts of the world. Our diversity is what makes us strong. Which brings me back to the video. People from different walks of life and different ethnic backgrounds working for the common good of us all. Some of us were born here because that’s where our forefathers left us. Others chose to come here seeking what our forefathers built and we have. We all want a piece of the good life. A life guaranteed to us by a constitution, laws and a right to choose our own leaders,
Americans who are we really? Mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, neighbors, friends and strangers living independently—in a united community— the good old U.S. of A.

FIVE BEST SENTENCES
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2.What one person receives without working for…another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work, because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work, because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation! Can you think of a reason for not sharing this? Neither could I……
